Fluoride is in many of the things we consume from toothpaste to drinking water but it has been suggested that exposure to too much fluoride can be bad for the human body.
Excess fluoride has been linked to damage to the Pineal gland, which is important in regulating harmony in the body. This happens when too much fluoride in the body calcifies on the gland.
Depending on where in the world you live there can be dangerous amounts of fluoride in your drinking water without you being aware.
Thankfully a new study has found that curcumin, the active ingredient in the household spice turmeric can help fight against the calcification of the pineal gland. The study, published in Pharmacognosy Magazine is called “Curcumin attenuates neurotoxicity induced by fluoride: An in vivo evidence,” and highlights the amazing properties of curcumin that have been documented in recent years.
In the study, the dangers of fluoride build up are also outlined, “Fluoride (F) is probably the first inorganic ion which drew the attention of the scientific world for its toxic effects and now the F toxicity through drinking water is well-recognized as a global problem.
Health effect reports on F exposure also include various cancers, adverse reproductive activities, cardiovascular, and neurological diseases”.
The study reveals that the spice works by raising endogenous glutathione production, which is an antioxidant system in the brain.
The study noted in its conclusion “Supplementation with curcumin significantly reduce the toxic effect of F to near normal level by augmenting the antioxidant defense through its scavenging property and provide an evidence of having a therapeutic role against oxidative stress-mediated neurodegeneration.”
