Every year, women spend billions of dollars on cosmetic products and never leave their house without mascara or lipstick. However, most of these products are not as safe as advertised. In fact, according to a new study, most lipsticks and mascaras contain known carcinogens which can do much more harm than good.
Most of these products haven’t passed any quality tests, yet they are still present on the market (and can be found for cheap). The companies rarely label their products properly in order to avoid regulation and attract customers with the cheap price. Using these products frequently may cause numerous problems due to the chemicals they contain.
In order to detect the exact level of chemicals in most cosmetic products, the Environment Defense Group recently tested some of the most popular lipsticks, glosses, eyeliners, mascaras, eye shadows, blushes and face powders. Most of the products tested positive on heavy metals, with cadmium, thallium, arsenic and mercury leading the pack. Besides these highly toxic heavy metals, most of the products were also positive on various chemicals and well-known carcinogens which can significantly harm your health.
Here’s a list of carcinogenic lipsticks you should avoid:
- Maybelline Color Sensation
- Avon Beyond Color
- L’Oréal Endless
- Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer
- Revlon Super Pea
- Sonia Kashuk Luxury
- Revlon Matte
- Revlon Color Stay
- L’Oréal Color Rich
Instead of these brands, you can buy lipsticks from Rejuva, Well People, Canyon, Coastal Classic, Bella Marie, Isoi or Mais’s Mineral lipstick. Using these natural brands instead of the aforementioned products will keep your lips attractive and your health in check as well.
